Ratanakiri: At least 77 families have been evacuated amid widespread flooding in Ratanakiri province. Five of its districts are affected. These are along the Sre Pok and Sesan rivers, Ta Veaeng, Andoung Meas, Koun Mom and O'Yadao. A total of 2,011 families have been directly affected, although only 77 needed to be evacuated. The evacuations have been ongoing since Monday, when the water level of the Sre Pok River reached the danger mark.
Some 982 homes, five schools, three pagodas, 75 shops and 13 handicraft factories have been swamped. Just over a thousand hectares of rice fields have also been affected. The Provincial Administration says some communication infrastructure, including 15kms of red gravel road, concrete bridges, pumps and drainage wells have also been damaged.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the water level of the Sesan River at the Cajon Station was reported to be 8.37m. The alert level is 8.5m. The Sre Pok River at the Lumphat Station is already at 13.81m, over a metre above its danger mark.
